Postdoctoral positions
1. New position
A postdoctoral position in Environmental Microbiology is available at the University of Haifa, Oranim, Tivon, Israel.
The overall objective of the project is to explore the role of the chironomid midge microbiome versus its intrinsic physiological factors in maintaining homeostasis under environmental stress conditions. The study will include the characterization of chironomid microbiome functional genes under normal vs. stress conditions. Chironomids are natural hosts of V. cholerae and its interactions with the other microbiota in the insects' host will be also studied.
Postdoctoral fellows with skills in Microbiology and Molecular Biology are encouraged to apply. Background or experience in bioinformatics is an advantage. Applicants should respond by mail with curriculum vitae, a statement of research interests and a list of three individuals who can serve as reference to:
Prof. Malka Halpern mhalpern@research.haifa.ac.il

2.
A Postdoctoral position in Environmental Microbiology is available at the University of Haifa, Oranim, Tivon, Israel. The overall objective of the project is to explore the role of the gut microbiome of nectarivorous birds (sunbirds and hummingbirds) in detoxification of floral secondary metabolites and in nitrogen supply for the host.
